Alan passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer surrounded by loved ones on September 18, 2017. Funeral services for Alan Dwight Bayer, 62, of Meadow will be held 10am Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Meadow First Baptist Church with Rev. Ken McClung officiating and Rev. Gregg Breedlove assisting. Burial will follow in the Meadow Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the Brownfield Funeral Home.

Alan was born December 3, 1954 in Lubbock to Albert and Carolyn Bayer. He graduated from Meadow High School and received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Texas Tech University. Alan was known for his work ethic and was well respected by many for his leadership and service to the community and church. He was a CPA, county auditor, county judge, farmer and a deacon at the Meadow First Baptist Church.

Alan’s children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. He is survived by his wife and high-school sweetheart, Shirla Bayer of Meadow; three children, Matt Bayer of Meadow, Lynsee Moneymaker and husband, Tim, of Lubbock, Travis Bayer and wife, Amanda, of Flower Mound; seven grandchildren, Kayli and Kenzi Rowland, Hilary and Kambry Moneymaker, Preston, Logan and Eden Bayer; mother, Carolyn Bayer; and two brothers, Jeff and Brian Bayer. Alan is preceded in death by his father, Albert Bayer and a granddaughter, Cambri Faith Rowland.
