anthony-joseph-dosiekAnthony Joseph Dosiek, 84, entered peacefully into rest Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, at his home with his family at his bedside.

Tony was born Jan. 4, 1932, in Rome, New York. He attended Holland Patent High School until joining the United States Air Force in 1950, where he proudly severed for 28 years. Tony was a flight engineer, earning 20,000 flying hours, on various cargo planes flying worldwide until medically removed from flying status. Tony then cross trained and became a radiology technician. He furthered his career earning an Associate’s degree in Radiology Technology from Midwestern State University in 1974. In 1978 he retired from the Air Force, moved to San Angelo and worked as the administrator of the Radiology Department at the old Shannon Hospital. Tony was not completely satisfied with his new career, so he went to Angelo State University where in 1983 he earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Tony then worked for 10 years as an IRS auditor until he retired.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Dosiek and Sophie Karcz; his brothers Joseph Dosiek and John Dosiek; his sisters Josephine Dosiek and Helen Reid. Tony was a member of Holy Angles 9:00 A.M. Choir, Knights of Columbus 4th degree, VFW post 1815, 3Rivers Sam’s RV club, and Military Retirees RV. club. Papa loved his children and grandchildren. He was a Boy Scout Master and was very proud of his five grandsons that achieved Eagle Scout and his one grandson that joined the U.S. Army. Tony enjoyed RV traveling with his friends and playing dominoes and pinochle. Papa was passionate about serving others (delivered meals to the elderly) and attending and serving at his church. He really loved gardening, music and dancing.

Papa is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Ziemba; five children and 17 grandchildren: daughter, Maryann (Don) Dench of Riverside, New Jersey, grandchildren; Jeremy, Harmony, Albert, Maryalice, Eric, Bernadette: daughter, Kathleen (Jerry) Mambretti or Pearland, Texas, grandchildren Andrea, Andrew and Natalie; daughter Theresa ( Doug) Fuss of Fort Worth, Texas, grandchildren Tephani, Angela; daughter Jean Bautista (John) of Brownfield, Texas, grandchildren Johnpaul, Isaiah, Benjamin, Katiana; 11 great-grandchildren: Jarett, Kailey, Colin, Sophia, Amaris, Connelly, Harlan, Finely, Declan, Ella Rae and Adelyn; and three sisters, Mary Lenaghen, Anna Smothers and Emily Donely of Rome, New York.

Viewing will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Sept. 8, 2016, at Johnson’s Funeral Home with rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2016 at Holy Angels Catholic Church with graveside burial to follow.
