Brenda Goldsmith-Arnold

Brownfield- 89, passed away Monday, November 13, 2017. Brenda was born August 12, 1928 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Lorene and Otis Goldsmith. Upon graduating from high school she began her college studies at Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma where she majored in English and received her Bachelor degree in Education. Brenda was an active member of Zeta Phi Beta sorority. Brenda and her husband, Charles, united with Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Brownfield where she served on the Deaconess Board and Sr. Mission President. She was employed by Brownfield ISD and began teaching at Phyllis Wheatley School. She also coached students for various UIL competitions. She later taught at Brownfield Jr. High School and concluded her teaching career at Brownfield High School as a Master English Teacher. Brenda was a great orator and frequently served as guest speaker locally and in Lubbock. She was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Theta Eta Chapter, and organization to advance women educators. Brenda leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Charlyce Arnold; granddaughter, LaNisha Arnold; sisters, Joyce Stenson and Lorraine Thomas; and a host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Greater New Hope Baptist Church, Brownfield. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Brownfield under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Griffin Mortuary.
