Monday night at the Brownfield Regional Medical Center’s regular Hospital Board of Directors meeting two equipment purchases were approved.

The board approved the purchase of a new BioFire Analyzer for the lab. Michael Ledesma, the director of the hospital laboratory informed the board that this machine will cut down the wait time for doctors to get results and could help shorten a patient’s length of stay.

The laboratory staff will have to be trained on this machine. The total purchase amount will be $55,000. This BioFire Analyzer was unanimously approved by the board and should be online by September.

The next item on the agenda was the purchase of 10 new hospital beds. The $89,000 was included in this year’s budget. The board unanimously approved this purchase for the hospital.

The next Brownfield Regional Medical Center Board Meeting will take place on July 23, 2018.
