A Celebration of Life Service for Candice “Candi” Seaton, 68, of Plains will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 18, 2015 at the Brownfield Church of Christ Family Life Center, under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.brownfieldfuneralhome.com.

Candi was born on January 15, 1947 to Donald and Phyllis Branstrom in Ypsilanti, MI, later moving to Buena Park, CA where she graduated high school. Candi also received her Bachelor’s degree in social work from LCU.

Candi met Doyle Seaton, the love of her life, in Washington D.C. and they were married on December 17, 1967 in Buena Park, CA. Candi’s caring heart also reached out to hurting kids and over the years she and Doyle were loving foster parents to 13 children, in addition to their own growing family. As well as being a farmer’s wife, Candi spent 20 years as a social worker, working with hospice patients and at nursing homes in Seminole and Andrews. She also worked with Women’s and Children’s Protective Services and was passionate about helping others.

Candi was a genealogist “extraordinaire,” putting countless hours and effort into researching her family tree. She was a member of several genealogical societies and her work is an amazing legacy of history and heritage to her family. Known for her creativity, Candi shared her baking skills with many wedding and birthday cakes over the years. She was also a member of the Hillside Church of Christ in Plains, and her family is comforted knowing she is in the arms of her beloved Lord and Savior. She will be greatly missed by her family and her grandchildren have lots of fun memories of their “Momo” to cherish.

Candi was preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother, Paul Branstrom; and 1 son, Burke Donald Seaton; and 2 grandsons, Wesley and Bentley Seaton. She is survived by her husband, Doyle; 2 sons, Shan Seaton and his wife Tracy of Brownfield, and Brad Seaton and his wife Amber of Lubbock; 4 grandchildren, David and Sara Newsom, Diana and Kiley Seaton; and an “adopted” granddaughter, Elizabeth Barker; her step-mother, Martha Branstrom and 2 sisters, Darlene Chirman and Donna Caulkins of California.
