Yoakum County Library in Plains started December off with a host of Christmas trees on Wednesday, December 6, 2017.

After counting up to the sixth day and then counting the days until Christmas, the group grabbed some silver bells to enhance the singing of “Days of the Week.” The group also sang the classic “Jingle Bells” as well as “Do You Hear the Christmas Bells?”

Karma Wilson’s book “Mortimer’s Christmas Manger” was the first book read. This delightful story has beautiful illustrated pictures by well-known artist Jane Chapman. The children enjoyed watching Mortimer the Mouse find a new home, as well as recalling last week’s nativity theme. The other book shared was a funny story called “Mooseltoe” about a moose dad who must improvise his tree décor for his family’s Christmas.

Following the literacy activities, the youngsters got to decorate their own felt Christmas tree craft before watching “Pluto’s Christmas Tree” video selection. Those in attendance were Bibi, Rhea, and Sadie.

Next week, Wednesday, December 13, attendees need to dress warm for a Deco Bingo Hunt around the Square. All ages are welcome with their caregivers at 10:00 AM.

The group will dismiss until after the school holidays, resuming Wednesday, January 10, 2018.
