Brownfield fell to Wylie 50-7 on a wet night in Wolfforth.
What should’ve been a home game for the Cubs turned into a trip up the road to Wolfforth to play at Peoples Bank Stadium, home of the Frenship Tigers. (For those that were curious the reason for this was to keep from tearing up the grass at Cub Stadium.)
The Cubs came out ready to play as they forced Wylie into a three and out on their first possession. The Cubs were then able to march down the field but due to some penalties had to settle for a field goal attempt that was no good.
After that Wylie was able to go on and score 50 unanswered points before Chili Morin was able to find the end zone late in the fourth quarter for the Cubs.
The Cubs did have several bright spots on the night as they were able to move the ball a couple of different times down the field on Wylie. The Cubs did not have a turnover on the night which is tough to do on a night when the ball is wet and you are playing a team with the talent of Wylie. Overall the team fought till the end and that’s always good to see in a team.
The Cubs will be on the road next Fri as they travel to Kermit to take on the Yellowjackets at 7:30 and as always if you can’t make the game you can tune in on towntalkradio.com or on your TownTalk Radio app, Justin and Kevin will be sure to keep you entertained.
