Dewey D. RogersDewey D. Rogers, 95, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, in Lubbock, Texas. He was born on May 20, 1921, in Graham, Texas, to the late Luther and Grace (Brown) Rogers. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, at First Baptist Church Lubbock, 2201 Broadway, with Reverend D.L. Lowery officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial park under the personal care of Resthaven Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016. Mr. Rogers served his country honorably during WWII in the United States Army. Upon completion of serving his county Dewey returned home and opened and operated Brownfield Floral for over thirty years. After selling Brownfield Floral he moved to Lubbock, and enjoyed his time going out and looking over the farm land in which he owned, and would occasionally even help out around the farms himself. He was a very avid golfer, and loved to play bridge. While Reese AFB was still in operation, Dewey hosted many service members and their families. Mr. Rogers was a very faithful member of First Baptist Church of Lubbock. He is preceded in death by his parents. Remembering him will be his wife, Nadine and her family of Arlington, Texas; son, Mike and wife, Cathy Rogers of Lubbock, Texas; daughter, Rande Spector of San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren, including Josh and Rachel of Lubbock, Texas; and one precious great-grandchild, Barrett of Lubbock, Texas. He is also survived by one sister, Norma Knittle of Midland, Texas.
