After finishing the first half of district play on a four-game losing streak the Fillies got the second half started on a positive note with a 24-3 win over Estacado on the Fillies home turf. This win was on the heels of a 9-5 loss to Brownfield, also on the Fillies home field.

The Fillies were trailing the Lady Cubs 6-1 when the scored four runs in their half of the sixth inning to cut the lead to 6-5. But the visitors countered with three runs and then shut the Fillies down in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn the 9-5 win.
Jewell Santillan paced the Fillies at the plate with two hits while Haley Villarreal, Julie Barrientes, and Marianna Polanco all had one hit. Marianna’s one hit accounted for two Fillie RBI’s.

Simone Roberson took the loss for the Fillies. She allowed eight runs on nine hits and struck out 10 over six innings.
Four of the Lady Cubs runs were unearned off seven Fillie errors. The Fillies got a fast start against the Lady Matadors scoring two runs in the first inning and 12 more in the second to go up 14-3 after giving up three runs in the top of the second. Six more runs in the third followed by four in the fourth inning ended the game on the run rule.

Estacado helped the Fillies by committing 12 errors that led to nine unearned Denver City runs. Jewel Santillan drove in five runs on three hits which included a home run, double, and single. The Fillies tallied 12 hits. Santillan, Polanco, Alazey Mishleau, and Hanna Gonzalez all managed multiple hits for Fillies. Polanco and Santillan each managed three hits to lead the Fillies. They also had an aggressive day on the base paths as they recorded seven stolen bases.

The Fillies also had a good defensive game committing just three errors. Alazey took the win for the Fillies going all five innings, allowing six hits, and striking out four. The Fillies hosted Seminole on Tuesday and then will host Lamesa on Friday with a 5:30 start.
