Maria Chacon is the 2017 Harvest Festival Queen Candidate for Arnold Community Educational Services (ACES). She is the daughter of Hermen and Patricia Chacon and the sister of 21 year-old Jose Chacon.
Maria is 17 years-old and is a senior at Brownfield High School. Her favorite subject in school is Anatomy and Physiology. She is involved in FCCLA, serves as Student Council Class President, and also serves at the Treasurer for National Honor Society. She also participates in cross country and powerlifting.
Outside of school, Maria is very involved with her church. She is a part of Youth Revolution, and serves as an usher, altar server, communion minister, and lector. She also enjoys working with ACES.
In her free time, Maria enjoys drawing, running, and lifting weights. Some of her other favorite things to do include watching Harry Potter moves and Spanish novelas. When she needs to relax, she likes to lift weights or sleep.
Maria considers her mom the person she looks up to because she does the impossible. If she could have one wish granted, she would wish for world peace. Something people may not know about Maria is that she is bilingual.
After high school, Maria plans on attending South Plains College to become a registered nurse.
For the Harvest Festival talent show, Maria will be performing Baile Folklorico, a traditional Mexican dance in a beautiful colorful dress. She will perform to the song, Son de la Negra.
