photo_034423_4091209_1_15571216_20160811Houston Cummings, Jr., 72, of Brownfield passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2016. Celebration of life service will be held Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at 2 p.m. at El Shaddai Community Baptist Church, Brownfield, Texas. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Brownfield, Texas, under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Griffin Mortuary

He was born on June 26, 1944, to Houston, Sr. and Savannah Cummings in Brownfield, Texas. He met Annie Jewel, who was the love of his life and was the center of his heart and they were married April 14, 1969. Houston was a very dedicated and loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and just any role that he held he gave it with his heart and soul. Houston was a jack of all trades; he specialized in mechanical and farming. He was always seen with a smile. He dedicated his life to Christ at an early age. He always tried to inspire others about the Lord.

Houston is preceded in death by his parents, Houston, Sr. and Savannah Cummings; his wife, Annie Jewel Cummings; four brothers; and five sisters.

Houston leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, Yolanda Cummings and Peggy Mackey; one son, Alton Mackey; two sisters, Bertha Davis and Maude Lullin; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
