photo_030748_4024052_1_14182532_20160220Joseph Campbell Moore, 92, of Brownfield died Feb. 15, 2016 in Brownfield, Texas. Graveside service will be today, Saturday, Feb. 20, at 10:30 a.m. in the Terry County Cemetery in Brownfield, Texas with Don Godwin officiating. Joseph Campbell (J.C. or Red) Moore was born on Saturday, Jan. 12, 1924, to Mr. and Mrs. James and Leila Moore in Clifton, Texas. Mr. Campbell relocated to Brownfield from Tahoka in 1952. J.C. joined the United States of America Army during the World War II time. He served from 1943 until 1946. It was while he was in the military that he earned certification as automotive and truck mechanic. During his latter working years, Mr. Moore was self-employed as an auto mechanic. He owned and worked at Red’s Auto Service. Known for his hard working commitment to his job, he was also recognized for an uncompromising ethic toward his customers. He conducted worship services and taught Bible classes at the Terry County Jail and at the TDCJ Lockdown Unit Correctional Institution for several years. It was during that time, that he baptized more than 160 men in Brownfield. Mr. Moore truly enjoyed working and providing for his family. J.C. was an avid hunter and fisherman. During the work week, you could often catch him at the Village Grill or NAPA Auto Parts drinking coffee with his friends. Survivors include: his wife, Kendleen Kenda Moore; son, James (Donna K.) Moore of Guthrie, OK; stepsons, Mike (Alison) Collins and Eddie (Jackie) Collins, both of Lubbock; and sister, Lefayne Callaway of Plainview, Texas. Mr. Moore is blessed with a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by: his parents, James and Dona Moore; seven sisters; and one brother. Pallbearers will be: C.J. Moore, Clayton Moore, Mike Stone, Richard Stone, Toby Metcalf, and Cody Metcalf. Interment will be held in the Terry County Cemetery Brownfield, Texas under the direction of Head Duarte Funeral Home and Staff of Levelland.
