Services for Marie Lowrey, 85, of Plains will be at 2pm, Monday, January 12, 2015 at Plains First Baptist Church with Rev. L.V. Henson and Rev. Lacy McAdams officiating. Burial will be in Plains Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Marie went home to be with her Lord Thursday, January 8, 2015 at her home in Lubbock. She was born December 17, 1929 to Archie & Sarah Huddleston in Avondale, AZ and moved to Plains at the age of 17. It was in Plains she met her husband, Fred Lowrey and they were married on March 27, 1948. They had 38 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 1986. In 1988, Marie married Carl Lowrey and they had 23 years together before he passed in 2011.

Marie’s foremost passion was spending time in prayer and reading the Bible. She was an active church goer—a member of Plains First Assembly of God and an equally devoted attender of Plains First Baptist Church. She was very family oriented and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Marie loved singing and was a proud member of the Grand Court Choir in Lubbock. She also loved playing volleyball, and played her last game of beachball volleyball two weeks before her passing.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Archie & Sarah Huddleston; 2 brothers, Alton & J.D. Huddleston; a sister, Carolyn Ricks; and 2 husbands, Fred Lowrey and Carl Lowrey. She is survived by her 3 children, Darrel Lowrey and wife, Beverly of Plains, Beverly and husband, J.W. McCan of Lubbock, Sharon and husband Charlie Gillis of Azle; 3 brothers, Alan Huddleston of Marble Falls, Cordell Huddleston of Canyon, Norman Huddleston of Killeen; 1 sister, Mona Le Colst of Electra; 4 stepsons, Melvin, Roy, Coy & Jerry Lowrey; 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggestions memorials be donated to Lubbock’s Children Home or The Gideons International.
