Nellie Mae Duncan Smyth

Nellie Mae Duncan Smyth went home to be with the Lord, May 19, 2018. A service to celebrate her life will be at 10 am, on Friday, May 25, 2018, at the Bagdad Cemetery in Leander, Texas.

Nellie Mae was born December 23, 1921, to Earmon and Sallie Duncan in Milburn, OK. Nellie moved with her family to Terry County, Texas in 1925 where they farmed in the community of Wellman, Texas. On March 25, 1944, she married Tomes L. Smyth in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. After her marriage to T.L. They continued to live and farm near Wellman until 1976 when they moved to Bertram, Texas.

T.L. preceded her in death on August 13, 2001. After his death, Nellie moved to Leander, Texas in 2003 where she resided until her death.
Survivors include her daughters, Janet (Mike) Kriegel, Elsie (Roy) Halsell, Karen (Ronald) Hyatt, Paula (David) Smyth, ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, E.D., Marvin and Lester, and her sister, Helen Anglin.

Nellie (Granny) was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who was loved by everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.

A special thanks to all the loving, caring staff at Riva Ridge Memory Care who took such special care of her for the past four years. Words cannot express our gratitude to them for the wonderful care they provided to her and to her family.
