The Denver City High School SkillsUSA Automotive Team competed on Thursday, February 4, at the New Mexico Junior College SkillsUSA Automotive Competition in Hobbs.
The competition consisted of sixteen stations covering all eight areas of the automobile. The stations included engine repair, automatic transmissions, manual transmissions, suspension/steering, brakes, electrical, heating/air conditioning, engine performance, safety, inspections and ASE technical knowledge.
There were 9 automotive programs that competed for a total of 39 competitors. The teams came from New Mexico and Texas.
The individual results included Julian Barrera 5th Place. Joseph Valverde 6th Place, and
Edwin Solis tied for 10th but lost in tie breaker and ended up 11th.
As a team Denver City won first place.
