by admin

On February 25, 2017, the Yoakum County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a missing female juvenile. It was believed she was in the company of Dane Minter, a registered sex offender. Information was received as to the location of Minter and his vehicle was eventually identified. His vehicle was located and an attempt to conduct a traffic stop was initiated by a Yoakum County deputy. Minter sped off and turned onto back roads of a field where he was able to get away. The area where Minter was believed to be was immediately surrounded by responding officers of the Denver City Police Department. A trooper of the Texas Department of Public Safety arrived on scene as well to assist in the search of Minter and the missing juvenile. Minter and the missing girl were eventually located in the field by law enforcement officers. Minter surrendered to officers without any incident and the juvenile was taken to a nearby ambulance. Minter was then transported to the Yoakum County Jail and booked in for a warrant out of Travis County, Texas. The juvenile was transported to the Yoakum County Hospital by Denver City EMS.

The Sheriff’s Office is extremely grateful this whole incident ended as it did. No one was injured during the incident; the missing juvenile was rescued from this situation and eventually reunited with her family. The development of this incident was a prime example of agencies working closely with each other toward a common goal and, in this case, was successfully attained. All the officers involved continued to work diligently and did not give up until the goal was reached.
