LUBBOCK – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was called to a major crash this morning at approximately 9:26 a.m. in Yoakum county. DPS troopers responded and determined that a Ford van, driven by Eduardo Nieves, 50, of Lubbock, was westbound on US-82 near Plains, Texas. The van struck a worker that was standing near the fog line on the north side of US-82. The worker was identified as Nathan Brown, 35, of Overton, Texas. Brown was mapping the roadway when he was struck. Brown was pronounced deceased at the scene at 9:49 a.m.
No charges have been filed at this time and the crash investigation is ongoing.
Next of kin has been notified.
