Plains ISD is excited to announce Michael Davis will be taking over the Cowgirl Basketball program in the coming school year. Coach Davis has been our head Tennis coach and led the Cowboys to a State playoff berth in 2009 where they were runners-up. A big positive with this coaching change is that Coach Davis is already familiar with the program and knows the athletes, our coaching staff, parents, and our community. His wife, Ashlee, is our school district nurse, and he has three girls who are Plains Cowgirls, two of which are still in school.

We believe Coach Davis will build on past progress and success and will establish goals and set the bar high for accomplishments in the future. Selecting the right coach who is the right fit for Plains ISD was key in our search. Coach Davis will continue leading the tennis programs, and Coach Mike Martinez will take over as head girls and boys track coach. We will welcome Coach Davis and Coach Martinez to these new roles with a reception on May 21st from 4:30 pm to 5:15 pm in the High School Commons. We invite athletes, coaches, faculty and staff, parents and the entire Cowboy and Cowgirl community to stop by and congratulate them and wish them well as they take over in their respective areas!

Sincerely,
Stephanie Howard, Ed.D
Superintendent, Plains ISD
