Treva Hyatt

Lubbock- Treva Jean Hyatt was born September 24, 1947 in Frederick, OK to Roy and Zelta Shuemaker. She went home to be with the Lord on September 22, 2017.

She was married to Max Hyatt on May 22, 1971. They were blessed with two children, and are the proud grandparents of five amazing kids.

Treva graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelors of Education degree in 1970. She taught at Spur ISD, Whitharral ISD, Brownfield ISD, and Southcrest Christian Schools for a total of 43 years. Treva dedicated her life to teaching and serving others.

She was involved in many teacher organizations, Meals on Wheels, and her pride and joy, The Good News Club. Her love of Christ resonated in everything she did.

Treva is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dione Howell; brother-in-law, Joe Wood; nephew, Jason Wood; and grandchildren, Madison and Brandt Hyatt.

She is survived by her husband, Max; son Mark Hyatt and wife Mandi; daughter, Amy Urbanczyk and husband Chad; grandchildren, Alexis, Kaegan and Ashlyn Hyatt, and Luke & Claire Urbanczyk; sister, Evelyn Wood; and brothers, Chris Howell and Clinton Shuemaker.

A Memorial service will be held at Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 10:00 am. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Krestridge Funeral Home in Levelland.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation in Treva’s name to the Good News Club at Southcrest Baptist Church, the Southcrest Baptist Church Building Fund, or the Jason Wood Endowment Fund at South Plains College.
