The varsity Mustangs finished in second place in the district track meet behind a strong team from Levelland.
The Mustangs accumulated 142 points behind the 194 points by the Lobos.
Alejandro Caro, Ivan Esquivel, and Jaryd Ivy all tied for 8th place individually with 16 points each.
Denver City results of each individual event were: 100 meters – Alejandro Caro 2nd, Cecilio Cardoza 5th; 200 meter dash – Cecilio Cardoza 3rd, Alejandro Caro 4th; 400 meters – Jaryd Ivy 2nd, Nathan Cruz 4th, Estevan Mendoza 5th; 800 meters – Jaryd Ivy 4th, Estevan Mendoza 5th; 1600 meters – Jacob Freeman 5th, Jalon Salazar 6th; 3200 meters – Jacob Freeman 4th; 110 meter hurdles – Ivan Valverde 5th; 300 meter hurdles – Ivan Valverde 2nd, Gehrig Curtis 4th, Nick Garza 6th; 4X100 relay – 2nd; 4X200 relay – 3rd; 4X400 relay – 2nd.
In the field events: Shot Put – Ivan Esquivel 3rd; Discus – Ivan Esquivel 1st, Luis Ontiveros 2nd, Brandon Pierce 3rd; Triple Jump – Nathan Cruz 6th; High Jump – Gehrig Curtis 5th; Pole Vault – Zechariah Zubiate 5th, Jacob Freeman 6th.
Finishing in 3rd place was the team from Seminole with 105 points, Lubbock Estacado was 4th with 79 points, Brownfield was 5th with 69 points, and Lamesa was 6th with 29 points.
