After moving through pool play undefeated, weather conditions sent the Mustangs home early with the runner-up trophy in the Brownwood TexasBank Holiday Classical Tournament.

The Mustangs started tournament play with a 61-46 win over Commanche followed by a 71-53 win over Cisco. In their final pool play game they eased past tournament host Brownwood 54-42. These three wins put the Mustangs in a 7:30pm Saturday championship game against Lampasas but due to icy highway conditions the Mustangs were forced to forfeit the game in order to get players and coaches home safely.

The Mustangs fell behind to Commanche in the opening round trailing 19-13 heading into the second period of play. Finding the range in the second eight minutes of play the Mustangs regrouped out scoring Commanche 13-8, but still trailed 27-26 at intermission. With some halftime adjustments the Mustangs used a 16-9 third quarter to go in front 42-36 heading into the final quarter of play.
Mathew De La Rosa and Estevan Mendoza once again paced the Mustangs with 20 and 13 points each. Also adding to the total that saw every Mustang scoring points was Nathaniel Cruz with seven points, Emmanuel Zubia had four points, Everado Navarrtte, and Braden Galvan all had three points, and Nick Garza, Damian Gutierrez, Aaron Pacheco, and Josh Mills all chipped in two points.

A big 29-10 first quarter outburst propelled the Mustangs past Cisco in their second game. The lead grew to 43-25 at intermission and 53-36 heading into the final quarter that saw the Mustangs outscore Cisco 18-11 to earn the win. Estevan led the Mustangs with 21 points followed by Mathew with 15 points and Emmanuel with 10 points. Josh and Darron each finished with eight points, Everrado had four points, Riley added three points, and Nathaniel chipped in two points.

In their final game against host Brownwood the Mustangs shot out to a 15-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. They were still up 25-21 at intermission and 34-31 heading into the final quarter when the outscored the Lions 20-11 for the win. It was once again the one-two punch of Mathew and Estevan who led the way with 20-17 points respectively. Nathaniel chipped in seven points, Josh added four points while Emmanuel and Damian finished with two points each.

The Mustangs hosted Monahans at home on Tuesday before heading to a road trip to Midland Greenwood next Tuesday for their final non-district contest. They will start district play next Friday in Seminole against the Regional finalist Indians.
