The Commissioners Court met in regular session on Monday, April 17, where they addressed a short agenda.

In the first item on the agenda the Court unanimously approved to pay County bills that totaled $450,481, which included $375,000 applied to Permanent Improvement, and Medical facility bills that totaled $223,686.46.

In the next item the Court unanimously accepted an anonymous donation of $1,200 to the Yoakum County/Cecil Bickley Library in Denver City.

County Clerk Debbie Rushing requested expenditure from equipment line item on four new scanners that will be placed on each employee’s desk in the County Clerk’s Office. Rushing explained her employees had been sharing one scanner and with these individual scanners they would not need to share the one scanner and it would speed up the process of scanning all the documents that need to be scanned.

The Commissioners also unanimously approved the purchase of two new pickups for Precinct #2. The total cost for a crew cab truck with a trade will be $27,200 and the total cost for a regular pickup with trade will be $20,835.

Because Commissioner Tim Addison was not in attendance the Court once again decided to table Yoakum County Building rental fees. This item will once again be put on next week’s agenda.

There was one request from Cedar Top Energy for a road crossing permit application. This will be in Precinct #3 and will consist of a bore under the road for two six inch lines for fuel and water. The request was unanimously approved.

There was one request from the Plains Library for the disposal of four conference room chairs, no line item transfers, and no Soil Conservation request.

While discussing the Denver City Community Building project Commissioner Woody Lindsey said there was a considerable amount of hail damage to the roof of the new building. He also went on to say there was additional roof damage at Yoakum County Hospital, Shinnery Oaks Nursing Home, and the Senior Citizen building from the storm that came through last Wednesday.

Commissioners Woody Lindsey, Ray Marion, and Tommy Box along with Judge Jim Barron were all present. Commissioner Tim Addison was not in attendance.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, April 24 at 10 am in County Courthouse.
