Seuss-riffic StoryTime!

StoryTime at the Yoakum County Library in Plains was maxed out in FUN on Wednesday, March 7, 2018! The special hour honored of Dr. Seuss’ 114th birthday as it also participated in the National Education Association’s “Read Across America” campaign.

After the children talked about the new month on the calendar, they followed by singing “Days of the Week.” The youngsters gathered close to hear about Theodor Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss). The first book read was “Green Eggs and Ham” After this classic, they enjoyed “I Can Read with My Eyes Shut.” Finally, a reading of “The Cat in the Hat” gave more smiles to the youngsters. Those in attendance Brit, Ben, Tirzah, and Sadie.

Before serving cake and birthday goodies, a craft of painting green eggs were offered to the eager group. Then the children excitedly welcomed a piece of the chocolate birthday cake (thanks to United Supermarkets)! What a tasty treat to celebrate a classic author! A short clip of PBS’s “The Cat in the Hat Knows a lot about That” was shown while the youngsters ate the delicious snacks. The families each exited the party with a goodie bag which included a small book by Dr. Seuss.

StoryTime is open to kids of all ages and their caregivers, meeting weekly at the Yoakum County Library in Plains on Wednesdays at 10 am during the regular school year.
