Locally, South Plains Underground Water Conservation District (SPUWCD), Sandy Land Underground Water Conservation District (SLUWCD) and Llano Estacado Underground Water Conservation District (LEUWCD) have helped sponsor four area students in this program. If selected, SPUWCD/SLUWCD/LEUWCD have agreed to help support students from their individual groundwater districts by providing resources to make this opportunity available to any youth interested in this exceptional program. Extension agents will be notified if a youth in their county has been selected prior to notifying the youth’s family/guardians. Additionally, Southern Ogallala Conservation & Outreach Program (SOCOP) which is a cooperative educational program serving the groundwater districts in Terry, Yoakum and Gaines counties will help to facilitate service/educational opportunities, coordinate with local 4H agents/clubs, and provide other support to help students achieve success as Texas 4H Water Ambassadors.
