Come and Get it! The 2022 South Plains Underground Water Conservation District calendars are available and ready to be picked up.
Each year as part of the Southern Ogallala Conservation and Outreach Program (SOCOP), the SPUWCD conducts a calendar artwork contest open to all Terry County fourth and fifth graders. Students from Brownfield, Meadow, and Wellman-Union were able to participate in the contest despite shifts and adjustments due to covid. Winners were recognized at the end of the school year 2021 and received their winning prize money as well as a certificate of achievement. The calendar features original student artwork promoting the importance of conserving water.
Aubrey Dycke of Wellman-Union, a 5th grader in Spring 2021, designed the 2022 cover entitled “Don’t Worry, Plants Can Wait Till the Mornin”. Additionally, twelve other winners, representing all three Terry County school districts, were awarded and are featured on the monthly pages of the calendar.
