Lubbock- Anna (Ann) Connolly, 96, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Promiseland Assisted Living which had been her home for the past 3 years. Ann was born to Fred and Birdie Johnson on December 18, 1921, in Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Mike Connolly, her sisters, Bonzie Johnson, Mabel Kennedy, Eleanor Brady, Ailene Guthrie, and three brothers, Don, Morris and Moses Johnson. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, one brother-in-law as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ann spent her high school years in Meadow, Texas playing basketball which she dearly loved. After graduation, she moved to El Paso where she briefly played on a Semi-Pro Basketball Team. When Ann returned to the Lubbock area she and her sister, Ailene, opened a drapery and upholstery business. For many years she worked as an underwriter in the insurance industry working at several agencies in Lubbock. Ann’s sister, Marcella sold oil paintings and at night Ann would frame oil paintings in her garage. Eventually, she and her son Mike opened “The Frame Gallery” where they did custom framing and had an art gallery for 17 years.

Ann was a long time member of Sunset Church of Christ. She was involved for many years with the Sunset School of Preaching where she led many students from Africa to Christ. She helped fund some of those same students to become preachers. Ann loved her students and they loved her as well.

Today we return Ann to her maker and rejoice with her as she is no longer suffering, but safe in the arms of her Savior.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2018, at Meadow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sunset International Bible Institute.
