Fall came to StoryTime at Yoakum County Library in Plains on Thursday, October 4, 2018! The group studied leaves and acorns. The time opened with the pledges, calendar, and the “Days of the Week” song. As the children—and parents—participated in the song “Clap a Friend’s Name with Me,” the youngsters learned about syllables in their names, a great pre-literacy exercise. Those in attendance were Kaylin, Henry, Saige, Jed, Nellie, Benny, Lena, & Reid. A felt board activity included counting leaves, as well as a seeking-the-acorn game.  The activity led nicely to discussing the colors of autumn leaves. The season-friendly books read were “Let It Fall,” “I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves,” and “Leaf Man.”

In two weeks, on Thursday, October 18, the group will welcome the Volunteer Fire Department, celebrating a belated National Fire Safety Week. Come join the Family StoryTime, which meets weekly at the Yoakum County Library in Plains at 10:30 AM each Thursday. All ages are welcome!
