Coming into Friday nights basketball games, there were a few teams hoping to upset their district foes. However, that didn’t happen. Both Wellman-Union Wildcats and Lady Cats were wanting to knock off the state ranked Ropes Eagles and Lady Eagles. The Lady Cats came out strong against the #5 Lady Eagles and ended the half with only a 19 point deficit to the Lady Eagles. The game ended with a thirty-three point loss for the Lady Cats, 63-33. The Lady Eagle have out scored their district opponents on an average of fifty-one points a game.
The Wellman-Union Wildcats also took their third straight district loss from the #14 Ropes Eagles. The wildcats showed some force at begining, however Ropes was too much taking the with 58-40 win. The #22 Meadow Broncos also set out to upset the #5 New Home Leopards. Meadow traveled east and took their second district loss 60-48 to the Leopards.
Moving on to the bigger schools, Denver City faced Brownfield. The #4 DC Fillies came out swinging and taking their 25th win of the season and beating the Lady Cubs 72-22. The Cubs fared much better than the ladies. The Brownfield Cubs were able to come away with their first district win in tight battle dropping the Mustangs 58-55.
Plains Cowgirls won over Morton 41-19, Seagraves Lady Eagles dropping to Sundown 44-33, Tahoka Lady Bulldogs came away with a big win over Smyer 58-38. The Greenwood Rangerettes over the Andrew Lady Stangs 67-31 and the Meadow lady Broncos dropping another district game to New Home 60-29.
On the boys side, the Plains Cowboys over Morton 80-76, Andrews over Greenwood 69-62, Seagrave takes a loss to Sundown 60-35 and Smyer out plays Tahoka 57-47 in OT.

In the top twenty-five in girls basketball, Class1A Ropes Lady Eagles are #5 and the Denver City Fillies move up one spot to #3.
The boys top twenty-five in Class 1A, Ropes is #14 and Meadow #22. Class 5A El Paso Burges moved uo a spot to #8.
