Brownfield Industrial Development Corporation Board met in regular session on Monday afternoon, June 7. The expiring terms of Steve Carter and Michael Franke were discussed. Both men agreed to continue to serve on the Board. They were approved unanimously. Steve Carter also retained his seat as President of the Board.
After hearing a request for funds from Forever Fitness owner Kristin Dill, the Board discussed her request and agreed that, legally, they could only offer the business the BIG Grant, which is a matching grant of up to $10,000, for repairs to the old “Gibson’s” sign that stands out front.
Brian Brisendine, Executive Director of BIDCorp stated, “We can do this much, because we can consider it as a part of our downtown revitalization. But, honestly, on the other funds requested, our hands are tied, legally. We do appreciate Forever Fitness and are proud of the success of the business and the growth it has seen.”
Brisendine also gave a report on the downtown project. More buildings have been purchased and renovation will begin in the near future.
The Board went into Executive Session. No business was conducted on reconvening.
