Abilene- Bill Loyd, 89, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 17th Bill’s home, 2721 Charter House Drive in Abilene. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Bill was born April 27, 1929, in Snyder, Texas to Herbert and Eula Mae Loyd. He graduated from Hubbard High School, Draughn’s Business College and LSU School of Banking. He married Nelda Bess West in McCamey, Texas on November 20, 1948. She preceded him in death February 7, 2016. He was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ in Abilene.

Bill was a banker for 47 years. He began his banking career as a Bank Examiner in Abilene. He then became a Bank Teller in Snyder and the Vice President and cashier in Roby. During his career, Bill owned five banks in West Texas; beginning in 1957 with the bank in Plains, Texas. He then owned banks in Muleshoe, Clovis, and Dimmitt, finishing his banking career in Lubbock. Bill served on numerous boards including the Texas Independent Bank in Dallas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nelda Loyd and his brother, Leslie Kenneth Loyd. Bill is survived by two daughters, D’linda Evans and husband Jimmy of Abilene, and Pam Stockard and husband Perry also of Abilene, his sister, Carolyn Macon and husband Alton of Tyler; six grandchildren, Stacy Leach, Wesley Stockard, Leslie Keele, Kristina Prichard, Ryan Stockard, and Emily Stockard Duncan; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be in Bill’s honor to the Lubbock Children’s Home, 4404 Idalou Rd, Lubbock, TX, 79503.
