The Brownfield ISD Board of Trustees met via Zoom on Monday evening, due to weather concerns.
The Board approved the purchase of furniture for Colonial Heights, as it transitions to Pre-K and Early Headstart in the next school year. Head Start has provided BISD with $40,000 to help in the purchase. The total amount of the furniture purchase will be $90,543.27. CH is currently being updated for use in the next school year. The student furniture from Bright Beginnings is in good shape, according to BISD Superintendent Chris Smith. “The kids’ desks and furniture is still in good shape so this money is for teacher furniture, library furniture and carpeting.”
The Whiteboard GMP was approved for CH and for the current BHS building, which will transition to BMS in 2021-2022. In order to get the project completed before the start of the summer, this approval was requested at this time. The funds will be encumbered but not expended until the projects completion. The actual amount will be $83,161.39 with a $6,840 overage amount if needed.
The Board also approved a painting project at CH. In order to get on the schedule for an immediate start, the bid was requested. Again, the funds will be encumbered but not expended until the projects completion. The bid approved came from TPC Commercial in the amount of $157,450. No other bids were received.
Technology upgrades were approved for BHS as part of a technology replacement cycle in which devices are replaced and upgraded regularly. The total quote for these upgrades was $96,600.
