After getting fired by Texas Tech’s AD Kirby Hocutt, Kliff Kingsbury agreed to be the USC Offensive Coordinator on December 5th. A little over a month later, Kingsbury has found even greener pastures as he has been hired as the new head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.
Kingsbury finished with a 35-40 record after six seasons with the Red Raiders. Despite the poor record, Kingsbury has earned a reputation of being a “quarterback whisperer” as he’s coached heisman trophy winner Johnny Manziel as well as current NFL pros Nic Shimonek, Davis Webb, Case Keenum and likely NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes. With the surge of hot QB gurus overtaking the NFL as head coaches, owners are looking for the next Sean McVay. A young QB coach that players like with innovative ideas that can turn franchises around. It has worked in LA, Philadelphia, Chicago and Indianapolis. We will see if it will in turn work out in Arizona. Kingsbury is proof that the Texas Tech motto certainly rings true: From here, it’s possible.
