The Brownfield Regional Medical Center Board of Directors met in a regularly scheduled meeting Monday evening October 17, 2022, with little on the open meeting section agenda.

During the Consent Agenda, the Board approved the previous minutes, heard the finance report from the interim CFO, and the Administrators report from CEO Bob Pascasio. His reports were information only to the Board and he asked if any member had any questions, and no Board member had any questions.

Prior to the consent agenda, Nickie Clare, the Human Resource and Credentialing Director swore in Justin Hesse to fill the open Board of Directors position. In the May Municipal Elections, Hesse and Bobby Lawrence did not seek another term for the BRMC Board of Directors and nobody filed for these two positions. Chuck Nave was eventually named as a new Board member, however, the other position was still open.

The Board met in a special called meeting on Monday, October 3, 2022, where they discussed who could fill the vacant position and be appointed. It was voted to add Hesse to the Board.

The Board went to the Action Agenda where they changed the November 2022 meeting from Nov. 21, 2022, to Nov. 14, 2022. Also during the action agenda, the Board voted to keep the cash discount program. According to Pascasio, the program is set up to discount the cost of medical treatment for those who chose to pay cash due to the lack of medical insurance.

Two other items under the action agenda which were to discuss, consider, and act on as appropriate “board terms” and “professional services agreement(s)” were moved into executive session with the other executive session items, which were

  • Medical Staff – evaluation of Medical and Healthcare Services; Medical Staff and Hospital QAPI Reports, Medical Staff Credentialing
  • Service Line Development
  • Consultation with Attorney – consult with attorney on legal matters

The Board did not take action on the executive items. Board members absent were June Cooper and Sue Cottrell.
