BRMC updates visitor policy

by admin

Hospital Administrator Jerry Jasper released the following statement regarding visitors at BRMC:

Due the significant increase in Covid-19 cases, BRMC is going to a “No Visitor” policy in our hospital starting today, June 30, 2020. This no visitor policy includes the clinic, hospital inpatient, outpatient services, and ER. If someone presents to the ER, only the patient seeking medical attention will be allowed into the ER lobby, unless the patient is under 18 (see below). Additionally, we are reducing the number of seats in our clinic, hospital, and ER waiting areas to allow for social distancing.

If you feel that you might have Covid-19 symptoms, we ask that you let the screener at the entrance to either the clinic or ER know your concerns. We will have you wait in your car and call you when proper Covid-19 screening and testing can occur.

The exceptions to the no visitor rule are:

  • Adult family members of end of life patients (patient placed on palliative care)
  • One coach or partner for delivering mothers
  • One parent or guardian for pediatric patients (a patient under 18 years old)

Each visitor that meets an exception must be in good health and symptom free. Visitors must enter through the ER waiting room. No one under the age of 18 years old will be permitted into the hospital unless they are seeking medical attention or have been emancipated as an adult and here in a parental capacity. All visitors, BRMC employees, and Government employees on official business will have their temperature checked at entry points to the hospital, ER, and clinic. Anyone with a temperature greater than 100.4 will not be allowed to enter and encouraged to be Covid-19 screened and/or recommended to see their Primary Care Physician.

We apologize for any inconveniences that these changes to the visitor policy might create, but we are trying to keep our employees, patients, and community safe during this pandemic.
