Brownfield FFA Banquet honors student achievements

The Annual Brownfield FFA Banquet was held on Wednesday afternoon in the BMS Commons. FFA Advisor Sheldon Franks welcomed all to the banquet and allowed the FFA officers to begin the meeting/banquet.

Members were recognized for their accomplishments this year.

Greenhand Degree Recipients – These are first year FFA members that have completed the necessary criteria in the classroom and out of the classroom. This criteria include having knowledge of FFA history, code of ethics, creed, and motto. These members are proven to be leaders, and advocates for agriculture.

Star Greenhand – Devin Casey

Chapter Degree – Once a member has obtained their Greenhand Degree, they may begin working on their Chapter Degree. To obtain the Chapter Degree, members must complete 180 hours of instruction in Ag Science courses, demonstrated leadership ability, and participate in chapter activities.

Star Chapter – Jordyn Dissinger

The Lonestar Degree is the highest degree of membership that the Texas FFA Association can award. To be eligible for this degree, members must have received the Chapter Degree, completed 360 hours of instruction in Ag Science, completed 25 hours of community service, and have a satisfactory academic record.

These students will be recognized in Ft. Worth at the State FFA Convention in July.

Lonestar Degree Recipients are – Jes’Lynn Perry and Sebastian Reyes

The Honorary Chapter Degree is given to a person int he community that has gone above and beyond to show support to this chapter. The community that surrounds Brownfield FFA is very supportive and is always there to lend a helping hand.

Honorary Chapter Degree recipient is Gina Kelly and the Kelly family for their support of Brownfield FFA through the purchasing of FFA jackets for members.

Distinguished Service Award is presented to an individual that is always around to lend a helping hand.

The Distinguished Service Award goes to Kristen Dill for her donation of treadmills for us to convert for our sheep and goat exhibitors.

The incoming 2022 -2023 FFA Chapter Officers were also introduced.
