Brownfield ISD honors some of its finest

Brownfield ISD took the opportunity at the Board meeting on Monday, January 24 to honor its Employees and Student of the Month.

Student of the Month for January was Brooklyn Jackson, a Pre-K student from Colonial Heights. Principal Paul Coronado stated, “Brooklyn is a sweet student who wants to go Texas Tech or LSU and be a firefighter. She has a great sense of humor. She supports her mom who is battling cancer right now with everything she has.”

Employee of the Month from Colonial Heights was Melinda Hammons. Coronado stated, “She is a Pre-K teacher and she is from Brownfield. Mrs. Hammons has been with the district for five years. She does an amazing job with the kids. We are so fortunate to have her.”

Employee of the Month from Oak Grove was Taylor Staggs. OG Principal Vicki Hathaway stated, “She is a fifth grade math teacher. She is so supportive of others and willingly picks up the pieces to make things work. She does an awesome job for us.”

Employee of the Month from BMS was April Berry. BMS Assistant Principal Brandy Crutchfield stated, “Coach Berry was voted on by the students. They all said she was so encouraging and supportive. We are very fortunate to have Coach Berry with us.”

Employee of the Month for BHS was Rebekah Swaringen. BHS Principal Dr. Gionet Cooper stated, “Mrs. Swaringen teaches Biology and Science for us. Her Department Chair Dee Ann Burris stated, ‘Rebekah is a teacher who is dedicated to making every student successful. She is super organized and does what is best for her students.’ I have to agree with Mrs. Burris. Mrs. Swaringen is an outstanding teacher.”

All awards were presented by campus principals and Board Member Tim Swaringen.
