Data Wall Tour
After the recognitions were done the Board and others attending the meeting took a tour of each school “Data Walls”. As previously talked about on the TownTalk Show, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, Melissa Oliva has spoken about this project. Data Walls are where the teachers and other staff in each school place educational data from each student, class, and grade on a wall so that teachers, instructional coaches, and principals can come together to assess and learn what each student, each class, and each grade are actually doing. The wall of data helps with tracking the progress of the students, classes, and grades easier than a simple email and it’s easily accessible. Most data walls are color coordinated, divided into subjects, classes and of course students. Superintendent Chris Smith made mention that each grade, including pre-k 3 & 4, have all seen progress since the implementation of the data walls, especially compared to last school year.
