In Mondays, BISD School Board Meeting the district gave presentations for the Employees of the Month, Student of the Month and Alternative Graduates Recognition.
The Student of the Month is a Bright Beginnings student named Manuel Huron, he was introduced by BB Principal Mr. Coronado. Mr. Coronado said this about Manuel, “He wants to work at the Terry County Jail like his daddy after he graduates from BHS, he wants to attend Texas Tech. He likes football, soccer, and video games.” Congratulations to Manuel Huron for being this months Student of the Month.
Superintendent Chris Smith presented the formal BISD transcripts to seven students who are Alternative Graduates. This past year the Texas Education Agency permitted school districts across the state to give out high school diplomas to students who did not pass the TAKS or STAAR exams but did pass the mandatory classes that the students took during high school.
Mr. Smith said, “You know sometimes the education system in place does somethings that make you question things that go on. This year TEA has allowed us to go back and make a couple of these things right.”
The former students of BHS who received their formal transcripts, (the diplomas were not ready in time) are Nicole Alvarado, Rebecca Garcia, Bethany Lerma, Corbitt Martin, Kalea Ruiz (was unable to attend), James Sargent, and Courtney Garcia.
Each campus principal presented the employees of the month. Veronica Casanova – BBAC, Guadalupe Vasquez – Colonial Heights, Aldy Ramirez – Oak Grove, Dorma Click – BMS, Jeff Fabila – BHS, Anita Martinez – BEC, and Maria Salinas – Child Nutrition. Congratulation to all the Employees of the Month.
