At 5:01 a.m. Sunday morning April 4, 2021 the Brownfield Fire & Rescue was called out to assist with a vehicle crashing into a house located at 604 E. Ripley. A black late model Nissan Altima driven by Hunter Acosta of Brownfield was driving south on North B Street between E. Story and E. Ripley. BPD reported Acosta approached the T-intersection of North B Street and E. Ripley at a high rate of speed and he disregarded the stop sign and crossed E. Ripley into the front yard and crashed into the northeast bedroom at 604 E. Ripley.
According to the Brownfield Police Dept (BPD), there were two females asleep in the bedroom that was hit by Acosta. Both females were transported to BRMC with unknown injuries. Also according to the owner of the house, one bed in the bedroom had previously been moved away from the wall that was hit. Acosta was also taken to BRMC by the BPD before being booked into the Terry County Law Enforcement Center (TCLEC). Acosta is being held on two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one charge of driving while intoxicated. His bond has been set at the $52,500.
