Bus stop at the Plains Yoakum County Library StoryTime

picture-school-bus-2016The inaugural StoryTime at the Yoakum County Library in Plains took place on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, with a few sprinkles and many smiles.

Pledges to the flags started the time together, followed by a “count UP” to the number seven. The novice group quietly learned “Days of the Week” as well as “Clap a Friend’s Name with Me.”

Because of the bus theme for the day, a storyteller favorite was the first book: “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!” Another fun bus book, “How Will I Get to School This Year?” was enjoyed prior to the field trip.

A special thanks to Plains ISD and the transportation director, Mike Taylor, as he drove the school bus for the StoryTime children to experience a real ride. The outing was complete with “The Wheels on the Bus” theme song and many watchful eyes taking in the town’s scenery.

Upon returning to the library, the children watched a short episode of “Word World: Shark’s First Day of School.”

Those in attendance were Alan Morales; Sophia & Olivia Lopez; Penny & Maxwell Landry; Trevor Prince; Hope, Lanie, & Abigail Simpson; Levi Fehr; Joseph Pruitt; Rilee Blair; Elijah, Tabitha, Selah, Kefira, & Gabe Blessing; Jazzmin; and Bryson John.

The “Good-bye Rhyme” completed the time together. Each child received a sticker on their hand and a goodie bag as they exited the Heritage Room.

Each Wednesday during the regular school year, Family StoryTime meets at the Yoakum County Library in Plains at 10 AM. All ages are welcome!
