photo_034256_4071409_1_15147530_20160615Rosary for Carolina Cantu, 78, of Lubbock will be 7 p.m. today at Broadway Funeral Directors. A celebration of Christian mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with Monsignor Jim O’Connor officiating and Father Martin Pina assisting. Burial will be in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors. Mrs. Cantu went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 13, 2016. She was born on Aug. 25, 1937, in Yorktown to the late Jose and Katarina Garcia. She married Alfredo Cantu Sr. on May 19, 1956 in Yorktown. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1998. Mrs. Cantu was a homemaker and owner of Beevers Radiator Shop. She loved cooking for her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She loved attending church. She was always checking on her family by phone to see if everyone was safe. She loved family gatherings. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Norma Cantu on March 16, 2013. Survivors include two sons, Alfredo Jr. and Kim Cantu of Lubbock, Pete Sr. and Maricella Garcia of Brownfield; three daughters, Kathy and Gilbert Flores, Delma Cantu, Laura and Raymond Pacheco, all of Lubbock; two sisters, Locaria Fonsca and Juanita Gonzalez, both of Brownfield; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The Cantu family would like to give a special thanks to University Medical Center, Dr. Michael McPherson and staff, Carillon Rehabilitating Center and The Garrison Care Center for the loving care they gave to our mother.
