Carroll Wayne Dennis (1944-2018)

On November 4, 2018, Heaven gained an angel, Carroll Wayne Dennis. Carroll was born September 21, 1944, in Seymour, Texas. He was a great husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He was a man that was loved and adored by his family and friends and was someone that could be counted on at any time. He was always ready to share wisdom and stories, most of which he acquired during his 28 years of service in the United States Navy. He was very proud to have had the privilege of defending our country. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Rosco and Huie Carl Dennis; and a granddaughter, Kelcey Elkins. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Dennis of Abilene, TX; sisters, Linda McMeekan and Marilynn Parker both of Abilene, TX; brother, Kenneth Dennis of Arizona; daughters, Donetta Sholette and husband, Ted of Norman, OK, Becky Coleman of Coalinga, CA, Waynetta Ferrell and husband, Russell of Red Oak, TX, Christy Dennis Messer and husband, Jimmy of Mansfield, TX and Sheileen Smith and husband, Jerrod of Crawfordville, FL; and sons, Chris Elkins and wife, Sheri of Brownfield, TX and Kelly Messer and wife, Angela of Crawfordville, FL. He was also blessed with 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. A visitation for Carroll will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2018, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 8, 2018, in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene.
