The number of candidates is still the same, but one incumbent withdrew her name at the last minute and one more signed on for one of three positions on the City Council.

Just barely beating the January 19 filing deadline, Jimmy Hunnicut threw his name into the hat for one of the seats on the City Council. However, one week later, incumbent Barbara Qualls withdrew her name, still leaving six running for three positions on the Council.

Incumbents Keith Mensch and Dalphene Benson are hoping to keep their seats, while hopefuls Clinton Bowman, Mark Sherman, Jimmy Hunnicut, and Patrisha Manzano are all vying for one of those seats.

Things remained the same on the school board as incumbents Russell Dial and Brad Woosley were the only two seeking re-election to the board. That being the case the school board election was cancelled.

Early voting for the City Council election will start on April 25 and end on May 3.

Election Day is May 7.
