She was born June 22, 1924 to Charles D. and Lois Manes Dial in Greenville, Texas. She graduated from Brownfield High School. Charlotte was a world traveler and discerning collector, joys she shared with her husband of over 60 years, Harold O’Neill Simms, prior to his death in 2007. She and Harold were married September 28, 1946. She was also an avid genealogist, and an active member of the Kerenhappuch Norman Chapter of the National Society Colonial Dames Seventeenth Century, the General James Smith Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and a former member of the Nancy Anderson Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Charlotte loved nothing more than curling up with a book and a raspberry latte. She had a lifelong love of learning and was an independent woman until the last; she will be greatly missed.

Charlotte’s brother, Robert Charles Dial and sister-in-law, Mary Raye Douglass predeceased her. She is survived by her cousins, Bryan Burrows of Albuquerque and Kathleen Moore of Tyler, along with the children of Chris and Kathy Moore, Lauren and Caitlin Moore; Roy L. & Torrey Hunter of Amarillo, and Tom and Marilyn Adams of Brownfield; and two nieces, Beverly and Lynda Douglass.

Memorials may be made to Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge, Tyler, Texas or a charity of one’s choice.

“Surely when we have drunk deep of love and life, we shall be able to go to death as one now leaves a table – satisfied.”
