Commissioners Court Meets March 13

Commissioners Court met in regular session on Monday, March 13, where they addressed their regular agenda.

First on the agenda was to audit and settle all accounts against the county and directed their payments. The county had total bills of $181,780.98 and hospital bills that totaled $284,727.48.

In the absence of tax assessor/collector Jan Parrish, county judge Jim Barron reported that $600,171.53 in taxes had been collected during the month of February.

County treasurer Barbara Wright also reported the county had a beginning February balance of $44,141,584.32 and an ending balance of $50,598,093.98.

Judge Barron also acknowledged receipt of monthly reports from the Sheriff’s office, JP #2, District Clerk, and County Clerk.

County Clerk Debbie Rushing also requested expenditure from equipment line item to purchase four scanners for her office. She explained that for over 20 years her office had one computer, one scanner, and one printer that everyone was using. With the purchase of four scanners each employee could have their individual scanners to do the work from their individual desk. The total cost would be $493.56 per scanner. The request was unanimously approved.

No action was taken on a request from Precinct #2 Judge Troy Scott for expenditures from the technology fund to purchase an iPad for his office.

There were no request for road crossings permit applications, no requests for the disposal of county equipment, no line item transfers, and no soil conservation requests.

Commissioner Ray Marion reported work was progressing on the new Denver City Community building and Commissioner Woody Lindsey reported the demolition of the former Denver City Civic Center building and clean up was completely finished. County and city officials will now make a decision on what will happen with that land.

Commissioners Woody Lindsey, Ray Marion, Tommy Box, and Tim Addison along with County Judge Jim Barron were all present at the meeting.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, March 20 at 10 am in the county courthouse.
