The Shallowater Mustangs dominated the Cubs on the scoreboard at their own Homecoming on Friday night, outlasting the Cubs 40-0.
The Cubs played a tough game all night long. With a couple of third down stands, forcing the Mustangs to punt, and a fourth down turnover on downs. There was nothing shoddy about the Cubs play all night long.
The Cubs were playing with a new QB under center in George Rivera. The Sophomore showed great poise under pressure, and his line showed toughness in giving him plenty of time to throw, most of the night.
Even though the halftime score was 26-0, the Cubs came out after the half ready to play. The Stangs only scored once in the third quarter, as the tough Cub defense was on the prowl.
Despite the score, the Mustangs knew they had been in a ballgame. The Cubs showed a lot of toughness and a lot of tenacity in never giving up or giving in all night long.
Cub Head Coach Aarrhon Flores stated, “I am proud of these guys. The played a hard tough game against a very good Shallowater team. They kept their heads up and made the play. We had some new guys in different positions and we had some out. Our guys played well in spite of all this. I have do doubt they will be ready to play next Friday against Kermit.
The Cubs will face Kermit at home in a 7 p.m. game. This game will be Military Night. The Cubs will recognize the various branches of service and those who have served our country and protected our freedoms.
