Cubs looking for first post season win since 2014

The last time the Cubs won a post season playoff game, Obama was President and gas was $3.66 a gallon, the Seattle Seahawks were Super Bowl Champs and bacon was $5.78 a pound.

Today, we live in a different world. So much has changed since that year, but one thing that has not changed is the will to win that this year’s version of the Brownfield Cubs show. They are determined to win every single down. They love each other and support each other on the sidelines.

Head Coach Aarrhon Flores is proud of his team. “I know we ran them through the dang SEC before district, but we did that for a reason. We have to play the best to be the best.”

The Cubs will head to Littlefield on Thursday night for a 7 p.m. battle against the Muleshoe Mules for a Bid-District crown.

“We know how long it has been since the Cubs have brought home a gold ball and we want to do that this week,” stated Flores.

Flores feels like the Cubs can match up well with Muleshoe. “They are a lot like Tulia, which is one of the games we lost early on, but we are a totally different team right now. I feel like we could beat Tulia, if we played them today.”

The Cubs can match Muleshoe athlete for athlete, according to Flores. “We have done a great job at stopping the run. We feel like we can handle their game if we play every down.”

On the defensive side, Flores says Muleshoe is decent up front. “They have a really good linebacker in their #0. He plays like Austin Sisson. Just very aggressive.”

The Cubs will be coming off a short week, with this being a Thursday game, but Flores says every workout has been hard and the guys are battling well in practice. “These guys are ready. They are ready to bring home a gold ball!”

The game will be played in Littlefield on Thursday, November 11, at 7 p.m. The Cubs will be the visiting team.

“How we practice …. is how we play!!”
