United States:

  • Total infections: 2,114,026 (Up 19,957)
  • Total Recoveries: 576,334 (Up 14,518)
  • Total U.S. Deaths: 116,127 (Up 395)
  • Current mortality rate in U.S. is 5.5% (No change)
  • A double blind study with 4,321 COVID-19 hospitalized patients in England shows that I.V. dexamethasone (a cheap and commonly used steroid) reduced deaths by 35% in patients that were placed on a ventilator, and 20% on patients that only needed supplemental oxygen. 

Texas: 

  • Total Texas Cases: 90,211 (Up 1,688)
  • 59,089 Recovered (Up 748)
  • Deaths: 2,001 (Up 17)
  • Texas mortality rate is 2.2% (No change)
  • There are more recovered than active cases in Texas 
  • 238 Texas counties reporting active cases (Up 1)
  • 2,326 lab confirmed COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized (Up 39)
  • 14,525 total hospital beds available in Texas, 1,626 ICU beds available 
  • 3.11 per 1,000 people in Texas have contracted COVID-19 (Up .6)

Regional:

  • 894 cases in Lubbock (Up 37)
  • Monday June 16th had 37 new cases, which is a tie with April 15th for the most new cases reported in a single day in Lubbock
  • 51 deaths from COVID-19 in Lubbock (No change)
  • 13 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Lubbock county ( No change)
  • 557 recovered in Lubbock County (Up 16)
  • Texas Tech Athletics is reporting COVID-19 cases within its football, men’s track and field and women’s basketball program
  • There are more recovered than active cases in Lubbock county at this time
  • 1,253 COVID-19 cases in the South Plains (Up 57)
  • 782 Cases recovered on the South Plains (Up 27)
  • 13 diagnosed cases in Terry county (Down 1)
  • 13 Terry county case recovered (No change)
  • 14th case in Terry county was deemed a false positive after two subsequent negative tests from two different lab services showed negative results
  • No active cases in Terry county at this time
