The junior varsity Mustangs remained undefeated in district play with a 7-1 win over Slaton on Saturday on the Mustangs home field.

The Ponies jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings of play and after the Tigers came back with a run in the top of the third the Mustangs countered with two runs in both the 3rd and 4th innings.

Daven Blanco led the way for the Mustangs with two hits. Chad Dyck, Darren Pacheco, Ty Brumley, Spencer Marion, and Jimmy Gonzales all had one hit each. Brumley had 3 RBP’s and Gonzales had 1.

Brumley started the game going the first three innings. He gave up one run on one hit, struck out 5, and walked three. Michael Garcia went the final two innings giving up one hit, striking out four and walking no one.

The Mustangs will travel to Idalou on Monday with a scheduled 4:30 start.
