The Mustangs continue to stay focused and picked up two more district wins, both via the 10 run-rule.

On Tuesday they traveled to Slaton and left with a five inning 15-3 win. After the Mustangs scored two runs in the top of the first the Tigers came back with three runs in their half of the inning to take a brief 3-2 lead. The Mustangs countered with four runs in the 2nd, five in the 3rd, and three more in the 4th.

Led by Braden McGary’s three hits the Mustangs finished with five-inning hits in the game. McGary’s hits included a double and a triple that accounted for three RBI’s.

Uriel Rodriguez and Irving Mijares both finished with two hits and RJ Hurado, Chad Dyck, and Mario Sanchez all finished with one hit. Sanchez also had three RBI’s while Uriel Rodriguez and Luis Rodriguez both finished with two RBI’s. Mijares, Daven Blanco and Hurtado all had one RBI. The Mustangs also took advantage of the 7 walks issued by Tiger pitchers.

Irving Mijares, Uriel Rodriguez, and Mario Sanchez also had home runs.

Blanco started for the Mustangs going four innings. He gave up three runs on five hits, struck out four and had no base on balls. Daron Pacheco finished the last inning giving up no runs, no hits, and issued two base on balls.

The Mustangs returned home on Saturday where they shut out Littlefield 11-0. They scored eight runs over the first three innings and run-ruled the Wildcats with three more in the bottom of the 5th inning.

Luis Rodriguez paced the Mustangs at the plate with three hits and three RBI’s that included a triple.

Mijares and Chad Dyck had two hits while Uriel Rodriguez and Spencer Marion had one hit each. Mijares had four RBI’s, Dyck had two from a triple and Pacheco had one.

Luis Rodriguez went four innings on the mound giving up just one hit, had eight strikeouts, and issued two base on balls. Ferny Vega pitched the last inning giving up no runs on one hit and walked two.

The Mustangs hosted Brownfield on Tuesday and then will travel to Shallowater on Friday for a noon start. They will close out the regular season next week with a trip to Idalou on Tuesday and back home to host Roosevelt in a noon game.
